In Tamil, mallipoo means jasmine, and the flower runs all through this soft lilac handwoven Chanderi. Vines of jasmine, leaves, and buds curl across the saree in vivid threadwork, with delicate cutwork opening up the fabric in small, scattered patches.
The diaphanous Chanderi silk is soft in the hand with a rich texture, and it moves with the fluid, weightless drape of a fine silk. The embroidery stays fine and light, so the lilac comes through clearly.
The blouse piece is a vibrant sulphur yellow Chanderi worked with tiny beads and zari embroidery. Together with the 1.5" border, it forms a subtle contrast against the lilac.
